Short Bio:

Soumen Deshmukh from West Bengal, India completed his Post Graduation in Applied Geophysics from the Indian School of Mines (ISM-IIT) Dhanbad in the year 2011. Following his graduation, he worked on gas-hydrate reservoir characterization at the National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad. In 2013, he joined India’s energy anchor Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. as an exploration geophysicist. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Department of Earth Science, IIT Roorkee, India, in addition to job assignments at ONGC.

Areas of Interest:

Exploration Geophysics, Advanced seismic study for Unconventional Exploration, Reservoir Characterization, AI and Machine Learning in Reservoir Characterization, Quantitative Seismic Interpretation, Geomechanics

RESEARCH STATEMENT

As a geophysicist specializing in quantitative seismic interpretation for property modeling, my research aims to bridge the gap between traditional seismic interpretation and advanced modeling techniques. By integrating seismic data with other geophysical and geological information, my work seeks to create more accurate and detailed property models that can help optimize exploration and production decisions.

Through the use of advanced seismic imaging and inversion techniques, my research seeks to uncover previously hidden geological features and properties. By developing novel approaches to data integration and analysis, I aim to provide insights into complex geological systems and improve our understanding of subsurface structures and properties.

Ultimately, my research aims to contribute to the development of more effective and sustainable resource exploration and production practices. By providing accurate and detailed property models, my work can help minimize exploration risk, optimize production strategies, and reduce environmental impacts.
