Short Bio:
Ms. Anuradha A. Karunakalage is currently pursuing her doctoral studies in the Rock and Fluid Multiphysics Laboratory within the Department of Earth Sciences at IIT Roorkee. Prior to this, she completed her graduate studies in the Department of Geology at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Anuradha has a strong academic background, she earned her first post-graduation in Remote Sensing and GIS at the UN-affiliated Center for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (CSSTEAP) and the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, ISRO. She was awarded the CSSTEAP bronze medal in 2019/2020 for her outstanding achievements. With a wealth of experience, Anuradha has served as a consultant at the International Water Management Institute in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She furthered her education by obtaining a second postgraduation in Applied Geology from the Department of Earth Sciences at IIT Roorkee. Anuradha’s academic journey is marked by prestigious research grants, including those from the Basic Science Research Program through the National Research Foundation of South Korea and ThinkSwiss through Swissnex, Switzerland. Her research interests lie in Hydrogeophysics and Hydrogeodesy, where she employs techniques such as InSAR, GRACE, borehole geophysics, and GNSS to address complex research challenges in Hydrogeology and Climate Change. In her leisure time, Anuradha enjoys exploring multicultural cuisines in the kitchen, expressing her creativity through painting, and embarking on hiking adventures amidst nature’s beauty.
