RESEARCH STATEMENT
I am interested in computational and rock physical aspects of methane hydrate bearing sediments, their morphology and petrophysics and their impact on associated geomechanical elastic properties of the sediments. Each morphology affects the sediments’ mechanical properties following their respective saturation and critical petrophysical identity (porosity and permeability). Grain-displacing and cementing morphologies evidently make the sediments’ pore space reduce to make the arrangement stiffer than the pore-filling morphology. Because, there is an inter-dependence of hydrate morphology, saturation, and petrophysical signature of the hydratebearing sediments that need to be understood and established, rock physics modeling paves an effective way to decipher the complex interplay of hydrate morphology and petrophysics.
