Short Bio:
Muhammed Sadiq
completed his graduation in Physics (Hons.) from Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, University of Delhi in 2009 and Post-Graduation in Applied Geophysics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay in the year 2011. He got placed in the year 2011 from the university campus in Essar Oil Ltd. There, he worked as a Deputy Manager. He was hired by India’s leading energy giant Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Ltd. in the year 2012. He is currently pursuing Ph.D. from the Department of Earth Science, IIT Roorkee, India, in addition to his job assignments at ONGC. He has over a decade of experience in Petrophysics & Rock physics modelling of conventional and unconventional reservoirs. He carries proficiency in log data acquisition, log evaluation, log editing, core-log integration, processing and interpretation of basic and advanced logs.

Areas of Interest:

Petrophysics, Formation Evaluation, Rock physics and Nuclear magnetic resonance imaging.

RESEARCH STATEMENT

As a lead petrophysicist, I have worked on the detailed petrophysical characterization of siliciclastic and carbonate formations in various prolific basins of India and provided solutions to many challenges that we face while studying the complex reservoirs such as tight siliciclastics, tight carbonates, laminated and low resistivity reservoirs. I have strong operational understanding of logging tool physics across all service vendors, open and cased hole, wireline and LWD. Proficient in resistivity modelling, acoustic and image log data processing and interpretation. Well versed with downhole pressure and fluid analysis for estimation of fluid contacts and routine and special core analysis. I am well versed with the latest logging technology and leading Petrophysical Softwares in the market with excellent proficiency in Geolog and Techlog and hands on experience in Powerlog.

My research interest lies in Nuclear magnetic Resonance (NMR) logging measurements. NMR have been extensively used for characterizing porosity and pore size distribution with assumption of constant magnetic field gradient within porous media. However, internal gradients of magnetic field generated due to the presence of paramagnetic or diamagnetic centers such as clay particles can significantly affect NMR response and the resulting interpretation for pore-size distribution and porosity. There is, also, no systematic study on effect of clay distribution in rocks on NMR response documented in previous publications. Clays could be present in the rock matrix in the forms of structural shale, dispersed shale on the surfaces of grains, or within shale laminations. In my research, I will quantify the impact of internal magnetic gradients and spatial distribution of matrix components such as clay minerals on NMR response using pore-scale NMR numerical simulations. We also quantify the influence of the aforementioned parameters on the NMR-based evaluation of porous media.
